General Tommy Franks’ tenure in the military started as a boots-in the-mud soldier in 1967 while serving his country in the Vietnam war. This lifelong military career prepared this highly decorated four-star general for the command of his life—leading a coalition of more than 250,000 troops from over 60 nations in the precise execution of military operations. He is an astute strategist, whose amazing ability to anticipate obstacles and adapt accordingly has been analyzed by many. In May 1997, he assumed command of the Third U.S. (“Patton’s Own”). In June 2000 he was promoted to four-star general and became Commander in Chief, United States Central Command. Franks earned a Masters in Public Administrations from Shippensburg University.
